Voilà les français qui seront au départ de l’Ironman France en catégorie PRO, une liste qui pourra faire envier le championnat de France L qui auront lieu une semaine plus tard.

Il faudra compter sur l’anglaise Leanda Cave qui est une des rares athlètes ayant remporter l’Ironman d’Hawaii qui se présente au départ de l’Ironman France. Dans les premières années  de l’Ironman France la promenade avait eu la visite de l’américain Tim DeBoom (doulbe vainqueur à Kona (2001 et 2002).

Les favoris et les plus sérieux prétendants à la victoire sont les 4 premiers de la liste côté homme, mais il faudra compter sur les rookies et outsiders, tel que Bertrand Billard, mais également l’anglais NICHOLLS Ritchie qui avait surpris tout le monde avec sa victoire à l’Alpe d’Huez.

Chez les femmes, Tine Deckers est la plus titrée à Nice, avec 3 victoires, Jeanne Collonge fait figure de favorite également avec l’avantage d’être à domicile, Leanda Cave jouera également les premiers rôles mais sa forme est oscillante, l’irlandaise Mullan est en forme avec sa victoire aujourd’hui sur le 70.3 UK.
